The Surrey Teaching Schools Network has run leadership programmes for over 300 middle and senior leaders, with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The national professional qualification leadership programmes for middle and senior leadership are run by a group of licensees appointed by the National College for Teaching and Leadership.
Since 2013 the Surrey Teaching Schools Network has run the leadership programmes for over 300 middle and senior leaders. It is committed to developing outstanding leaders who can transform schools and ultimately improve educational outcomes for young people. Feedback from the leadership programmes has been overwhelmingly positive. Many participants say that their experiences on the course have helped them to secure promotion.
To gain the qualification participants have to complete a school-based task which is marked by independent assessors. It is expected that this assessment will be completed within 12 to 15 months of starting the programme. Participants have to nominate their line manager or a senior manager to be their sponsor. STSN provides individual support with assessments and a number of facilitators are also qualified assessors. Participants who have completed the assessments have received exceptional feedback about their performance
Costs of the programmes are based on national rates; participants in maintained schools are eligible for a part scholarship, and some may qualify for half or full scholarships depending on the size of their school. Please see enclosed information for further details about the costs of the individual programmes and the scholarships. It is important you apply by 15 September 2015 if you want to receive one.
What do you get from the programmes?
- 2 face to face days for middle leaders and 9 weeks of facilitated online learning and individual and group support with the assessment.
- 4 face to face days for senior leaders and 12 weeks of facilitated online learning and individual and group support with the assessment.
The online courses are run by SELTnet which is part of the South East Leadership Trust. Participants have the opportunity to read a range of materials, watch case study videos, contribute to blogs and complete a series of activities which deepens their understanding about specific aspects of leadership.
Participants really value the blended learning offered by the face to face days and online courses and say that it represents excellent value for money.
